-
- : Yes it does. I use AFS on the Zip and it's helped tremendously (you get r/w
- : speeds more in tune with what IOMega says is the max as opposed to FFS)
- Excellent. Looks like it may be worthwhile to purchase the standard version
- to give my ZIP carts that extra `upmph`...
-
- : I've had no problem digitizing/playing back stereo audio (2 tracks) @ 48000
- : kHz in 16 bit from my Sunrize 516. I haven't tried any more tracks than 2 but
- : judging by the drive accessing going on when playing back, I'm sure I could
- : cram one or possibly two more in there.
- So, it sounds like, with AFS, playing back large anims (FLI or not) would
- not be a problem. Hmm, I wish FFS was as good..
-
- : JA> BTW, I keep having this nagging feeling that I should have bought the
- : JA> EZ135. Anyone willing to tell me I was right to buy the Zip..? :)
-
- : Well I hate SyQuest technology and will be dancing on it's grave the day it
- : dies. It's clunky, old.. and what really pisses me off is SyQuest acts like
- : the Zip is in competition with the EZ135, when it's really the other way
- : around.
- Yeah, I noticed how SyQuest scrambled to release a drive to compete with
- the ZIP AFTER the ZIP was released...
-
- : We've all had this fight before, and if you absolutely need another 35 megs
- : and a bit more speed, then yes, the EZ135 is "better" than the Zip. The EZ135
- : is a nice drive I'm sure, and it doesn't suffer from some of the bad design of
- : normal SyQuest by nature.
- Oh..I`m still a little regretful about getting the ZIP, but the way I see it
- - more and more people are going with the ZIP and so it`s gonna allow many
- of us Ami owners (and even Mac/PC owners) to transfer data quickly and
- efficiently. At least that what I keep telling myself.. :)
-
- One last thing..Once AFS is installed on the RDB of the ZIP cart, does
- this mean that it can be used in any other Amiga connected ZIP drive, or
- will the other persons Amiga have to have the AFS filling system installed
- in it's l: directory??
-
- Thanks in advance.
